Seeing this photo on the Sartorialist sent me down ol’ memory lane. When I was a kid growing up in Melbourne, Le Louvre was the swankiest store in town. It had draped windows so that you couldn’t see inside, and shopping there was by appointment only. I did go in once — there was sale on (!) and I bought an amazing pair of ostrich earrings from Paris. I treasured them for years until they fell apart. Wish I still had them!
